Turnaround Co-ordinator – London Heathrow

Location: London Heathrow Airport, Hounslow
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week (on a 4 on 2 off shift pattern)
Shifts: Monday – Sunday, various shifts between 04:00am and 23:30pm (including Bank Holidays)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £38,220 plus shift pay and excellent benefits
Closing Date: Thursday 15th January 2026

At Virgin Atlantic, we’re seeking exceptional Turnaround Co‑ordinators to be at the very heart of our operation, orchestrating the smooth and efficient turnaround of our aircraft.

This safety‑critical role places you right at the centre of the action on the ramp, where your leadership, precision, and calm under pressure ensure every flight departs safely, securely, and right on schedule. Through expert supervision and meticulous coordination, you’ll help uphold the standards that make our journeys extraordinary.

Day to day

Some of your key responsibilities as our Turnaround Co-ordinator will be:

  • Leading and coordinating all aspects of the below wing arrival and departure processes on the ramp for our engineering teams, ground handlers, customers and crew, including their baggage
  • Handling delay allocations accurately and timely, including comprehensive reporting
  • Sharing information to provide feedback and appropriate escalation when encountered
  • Preparing flight paperwork for crew, including printing of customer lists, flight plans, catering and other essential documentation
  • Presenting aircraft load data between the flight crew and load control departments and taking care of weight and balance calculations as the need arises
  • Final accountability for authorising aircraft departures in conjunction with Virgin Atlantic (VAA) and legislative requirements to deliver the safe departure of our aircraft
  • Following all UK/Ireland/EU legislation as well as all security requirements to ensure VAA Corporate Safety and Security processes and procedures are followed at all times by all staff, including service providers

About you

Are you a safety focussed leader, who thrives in working in a pressurised environment? We're looking for natural leaders and problem solvers with the ability to think on your feet to ensure our aircrafts depart safely and on time!

  • A minimum 12-months previous airline experience in a ground-based role, or a weight and balance/load planning role is an essential criteria to becoming a Turnaround Co-ordinator
  • A solid understanding of below wing processes, such as aircraft dispatch is preferable
  • Proven experience in leading a team, with confidence to collaborate and encourage others, to create a positive team spirit
  • Strong and confident communicator with the ability to deliver clear and concise messages to a range of team members
  • Effective planning and organising skills with a high level of accuracy to keep and maintain our on-time performance
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Internal candidates must have passed probation and be in their current role for a minimum of 6 months
  • Flexibility to work different shifts between 04:00am and 23:30pm, including weekends and bank holidays
  • Must live in the UK, and located within a 90-minute commutable distance from London Heathrow, Hounslow, UK
  • Aged 18 years of age or over, and be able to acquire an airside pass ID that permits you to enter and work in restricted areas of London Heathrow airport is essential for this role
  • A full UK driving license is essential, to meet the requirement to drive vehicles airside that will include a medical assessment during your training
  • You'll be required to gain and hold a HAL ID in line with security background checks. We will provide you with full training on our in-house system, however, you will need to be computer-literate and adept at switching between applications.
