Senior Data Analyst – (Engineering and Maintenance)
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday
Location: Hybrid working 3 days a week in Virgin Atlantic Hangar, Exeter Road, Heathrow airport, Hounslow, TW6 2PJ with occasional travel to our VHQ, Crawley site.
Contract: Permanent

As a Senior Analyst within Engineering & Maintenance, you’ll sit at the centre of how Virgin Atlantic keeps its aircraft flying safely, efficiently, and reliably. You’ll take complex operational, maintenance, and supply chain data and turn it into clear, actionable insight that directly impacts aircraft availability, cost performance, and operational excellence.
This isn’t just about reporting. You’ll design scalable data models, build intelligent tools, and lead projects that reshape how decisions are made across Engineering. You’ll partner with senior stakeholders, challenge thinking where needed, and bring a level of insight that drives real, measurable change.
- Lead advanced analysis to uncover performance drivers, trends, and cost-saving opportunities
- Design and build scalable data models, dashboards, and digital tools that support critical decisions
- Translate complex operational challenges into clear, data-led solutions
- Automate workflows and reporting to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
- Partner with Engineering & Maintenance leaders to influence strategy and decision-making
- Present insights through clear storytelling tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Mentor Analysts and support the growth of analytical capability across the team
- Identify opportunities to innovate through new tools, technologies, and approaches
- Demonstrable experience in data analytics, data products, digital solutions, or data engineering within complex operational environments
- Broad technical aptitude and strong capability across a range of analytical tools and technologies. Exposure to Python, R, or similar languages would be advantageous
- Strong experience delivering reporting, dashboards, and user-focused data solutions that support operational decision-making
- Evidence of working within cloud-based data ecosystems (e.g. Azure, Databricks, Power Platform) to develop scalable reporting, data products, or digital solutions
- Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, commercially relevant insights that drive decision-making
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders, including the ability to challenge constructively using data
- Track record of leading analytical or digital projects end-to-end, delivering measurable business outcomes
- Experience supporting or mentoring others, contributing to the development of analytical capability within a team
- Experience working on internal digital tools, data products, or web-based applications, with exposure to modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks such as React or Next.js, would be advantageous
- Demonstrated curiosity and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement, automation, innovation, and the development of more effective digital or data-led solutions
