Senior Internal Audit – (Business, Financial and Risk Audit)
At Virgin Atlantic, our mission is to be the most loved travel company, and that means ensuring our business runs with integrity, accountability, and confidence. As a Senior Internal Auditor, you’ll play a vital role in strengthening the foundations that keep our organisation flying high.
Working as part of a small, dynamic team, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end assurance reviews across financial, operational, and compliance areas. Your work will deliver real impact, providing insights, recommendations, and challenge that drive stronger governance and smarter risk management across the Virgin Atlantic Group.
This is a 12-month maternity cover opportunity for someone with curiosity, commercial acumen, and a passion for continuous improvement. If you’re ready to make your mark in a business that values collaboration, innovation, and doing things the Virgin way, we’d love to hear from you.
In this role, you’ll:
- Lead end-to-end audits across operational, financial, and regulatory areas, delivering high-quality, risk-based reviews.
- Conduct scoping, risk assessments, and control design testing to ensure compliance with our internal audit methodology and professional standards.
- Produce clear, concise, and insightful audit reports that drive pragmatic, value-adding improvements.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across multiple business functions to help embed effective risk management and strengthen internal controls.
- Track and validate management actions, ensuring timely and effective remediation.
- Support quarterly reporting to the Executive Leadership Team and Audit Committee.
- Contribute to advisory and consulting projects, offering insight on change initiatives, process improvements, and emerging risks.
- Use data analytics and digital tools to deepen insight, identify anomalies, and strengthen the evidence base of your reviews.
We’re looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and professional credibility, ideally with:
- Disreable but not essential to have a degree or professional qualification in finance, audit, or risk (e.g. CIA, CPA, ACCA, ACA, CISA).
- Proven experience delivering financial, operational, or compliance audits, ideally within a corporate or consulting environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills – able to build trust, challenge constructively, and present findings with clarity and impact.
- Excellent organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight timelines.
- Curiosity and analytical thinking – confident using data to uncover insights and drive decision-making.
- Ideally, experience within aviation, travel, or a similarly complex operational environment.
- Experience with data analytics tools (e.g. Power BI) and/or process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) would be a plus.
