The role of the Planner – Component Maintenance & Warranty is primarily to manage the day-to-day contract responsibilities for Virgin Atlantic Engineering Supply Chain. You will be responsible for the administration of repair and overhaul services by approved 3rd party MRO’s and pool partners in support of VAA’s Aircraft Operations requirements. You will also Create or actively contribute to efficiencies that deliver quantifiable cost savings to the department, assist in the management of VAA approved repair vendors, helping with the day to day running of the Component Maintenance Team and support/contribute to the continuous improvement and performance of the team.
The Planner – Component Maintenance & Warranty will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of repair and overhaul services by approved 3rd party MRO’s and contracted partners in support of VAA’s operational requirements.
Create or actively contribute to efficiencies that deliver quantifiable cost savings to the department:
- Manage open orders with contracted providers and expedite as required
- Manage the flow of the contract parts through the organization and ensure the timely return of components in line with our contractual obligations
- Use existing tools and assist in the development of new tools to support departmental objectives
- Act as the interface between Virgin and the various contract organizations
- You will also work closely with various internal departments to coordinate the provision of contract parts to meet planned maintenance requirements
Assist in the management of VAA approved repair vendors including:
- Minimising the risk of non-supply of agreed service levels.
- Ensure vendors comply with all regulatory requirements.
- Ensure vendors deliver component/services in a cost effective and timely manner.
Support and contribute to the continuous improvement and performance of the Pool Component Support Team, monitoring workload balance and ensuring departmental performance meets and strives to exceed KPI’s.
We’re seeking an experienced planner, with an aviation background, knowledgeable in a number of areas relating to component maintenance and contract management. If this sounds like you and you have the below skills/experience, we think you would love this role! We are looking for somebody who has:
Excellent communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
An understanding of the approved sources of Repair & Overhaul Services that are contracted by Virgin Atlantic and assist in maintaining professional, profitability focused relationships with suppliers and contractors.
Vendor/contract management experience
Good I.T skills and the ability to efficiently use the Engineering Computer System and other relevant IT systems used within Supply Chain.
Strong excel skills with the ability to manipulate large amounts of data to produce reports to aid in the day-to-day running of the department.
Demonstrate an understanding of the departmental processes and procedures relevant to the role.
Demonstrate a knowledge of technical manuals and documentation relevant to the role.
Attained, working towards or an ambition to complete stage 4 Materials Management / Procurement NVQ or equivalent.
Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of compliance and willing to take action to safeguard compliance in your own performance and that of the Support Planners within the team.
