Head of Airports – Americas and Caribbean

Hours: 40 per week Monday to Friday
Location: Atlanta, USA (possibly consider other options across East Coast airports).
Closing date: 22nd October 2025

We’re looking for an inspiring and commercially astute Head of Airports – Americas and Caribbean to lead our airport operations and deliver exceptional performance across the region.
This is a critical leadership role within our Airports, Clubhouses and Network Operations team, where you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping Virgin Atlantic’s operational and customer strategy across the Americas and Caribbean.
You’ll guide and empower Airport Managers and their teams to deliver seamless, differentiated experiences while maintaining an uncompromising focus on safety, security, and operational excellence. From driving on-time performance and customer satisfaction to building strong partnerships with airport authorities, suppliers, and ground handlers, you’ll ensure Virgin Atlantic stands out for its brilliance at every touchpoint.
You’ll also champion continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and the wellbeing and growth of our airport teams. As our regional leader, you’ll represent Virgin Atlantic within joint venture partnerships—ensuring our voice is heard at the highest levels. The role directly leads our Caribbean and larger US Airports with senior leadership oversight for the remaining region including Canada and Mexico.
- Lead, inspire, and develop Airport Managers and teams across multiple regions, embedding a culture of empowerment, inclusion, and accountability.
- Drive safe, secure, and exceptional operations with a relentless focus on compliance and safety performance.
- Deliver excellence in customer experience, operational delivery, and on-time performance across all regional stations.
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with airport authorities, suppliers, and ground handling partners, ensuring consistency and aligned service delivery.
- Oversee strategic and operational initiatives that modernise, optimise, and future-proof our airport operations.
- Partner closely with Delta, Air France–KLM, and key external stakeholders to strengthen Virgin Atlantic’s joint venture presence across the Americas and Caribbean.
- Champion continuous improvement, change leadership, and colleague engagement across a large, geographically dispersed network.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams such as Network, SLG, and Commercial to deliver aligned outcomes and strategic growth.
We’re looking for a proven airport operations leader who thrives in a complex, multi-station environment. Ideally, you’ll bring experience from large regional or international operations, though we’ll also consider strong hub operations leaders who can demonstrate success across a distributed network.
You’ll also bring:
- Significant experience leading leaders across multiple regions, including hub or large multi-station airports.
- Experienced in working for an Airline business from an Airport Operations environment.
- A proven track record of driving operational performance, safety, and customer excellence.
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing large, diverse teams across multiple geographies.
- Strategic and commercial acumen with deep understanding of supplier and contract management.
- Experience leading transformation, route start-ups, and terminal transitions.
- High emotional intelligence, cultural awareness, and an ability to lead inclusively and with empathy.
- Tenacity, curiosity, and a drive for continuous improvement and innovation.
