Pilot Placement Programme

We’re not like other carriers. As the UK’s only exclusively long-haul airline, you’ll operate from Heathrow to some of the world’s most glamorous destinations, and when it comes to office views, our pilots have the best. When you become a Virgin Atlantic pilot, you’ll need to live up to the highest professional and safety standards, leading our operation and taking pride in making values-based decisions in the air and on the ground.

Working on one of the most technologically advanced aircraft fleets around, you’ll be flying our A350’s which has been designed with love and built for the future. We know the journey is as important as the destination.  That’s why we made sure our new aircraft is super comfortable for our pilots and customers, with the introduction of The Loft and The Booth in our Upper-Class cabin, as well as super stylish.

Our Recruitment Process

Once your application and interest have been verified by easyJet you will be sent an online psychometric assessment to complete via email. We expect this assessment to take up to 40 minutes of your time and to be completed within 72hours.

If you meet the required benchmark of our online assessment, we will ask you to attend a virtual interview lasting no more than 40 minutes. During our time together we will be asking you a selection of behavioural and technical based questions. The outcome of your interview will be given within 7 working days.

We have a set benchmark that each candidate needs to achieve in their psychometric assessment to move forward to our final interview.

This benchmark ensures alignment with our external recruitment process and expected standards from our candidates. It also maintains safety and security and ensures you possess the necessary cognitive abilities, decision-making skills, and critical skills required for our pilot role at Virgin Atlantic. These standards help maintain safety, reliability, and efficiency in high-pressure situations, which is vital for the well-being of passengers and crew.

We appreciate the effort and time you invested in our interview process so we are happy to offer individual feedback following your final interview with us (we’re unable to provide this for our psychometric testing element) We believe providing interview feedback is important as it supports your personal development and growth whilst fostering a positive, transparent hiring experience.

Congratulations on your offer! We will advise you of your start date in the schedule which accompanies your terms and conditions of employment. Your start date may also vary depending on the availability of any training you require as part of your new role or any notice period that you have with your current employer.

We require all new employees to be fully referenced in order to start in the business so should your referencing not be completed in time then this will result in your start date being pushed back in order for this to be fully completed.

We are fully inclusive here at Virgin Atlantic and would sponsor you with a right to work/skilled worker visa for a 5-year period if you require one. This visa applies to you and your role, therefore any partners and children who would be relocating to the UK with you would require a self-funded VISA. We can assist with providing details of the immigration specialists we use to issue the visa for a smooth process.
